The Toledo District Golf Association has joined the United States Golf Association's Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN), expanding the service to now include 60 state and regional golf associations covering 42 states and Puerto Rico. The Toledo Golf Association includes approximately 54 golf clubs and roughly 11,000 golfers.

"We are very happy to be joining the many associations and golfers in GHIN, especially those within the state of Ohio," said TDGA executive director Marianne Reece. "All of the Ohio directors have been supportive, and our move will help unify our state associations and strengthen the bond among us all."

Ohio has at least five successful district golf associations.

"We are pleased to assist the Toledo District Golf Association, its members and member clubs," said Missy Crisp, chair of the GHIN committee for the USGA. "This addition means that GHIN is now serving all authorized golf associations in the state of Ohio, which makes it easier for golfers in that state to post scores or look up the Handicap Index of a fellow Buckeye."

Started in 1981 at the request of state and regional golf associations, the GHIN service has grown to serve nearly two million golfers. It is an optional offering for clubs in meeting the policies of the USGA Handicap System that allows all golfers to compete on a relatively equal basis and enjoy a fair game.
